Sierra Nevada 2017 collects the banner for the Snowboarding and Freestyle World Championship

The ski and mountain resort of Sierra Nevada picked up today in Kreischberg (Austria) the banner for the International Ski Federation (FIS) as the next organiser for the March 2017 World Championships in Snowboarding and Freestyle Ski.

A delegation of the Granada winter centre moved to the Austrian station, where today they completed the 2015 world championships, celebrating one of the star challenges of the event, the SkiCross finals, after which the championship ended with a handover to Sierra Nevada.

Snowboardercross

The Granada ski station has almost all of the sports venues ready for the 2017 World Cup (which coincide for the most part with the Universiade event which begins February 4th), except for the jumping ramp for the Big Air (snowboarding) and the Aerials (freeski), to be installed in the last section of the Eagle slope, and in Pradollano.

The 2017 Sierra Nevada World Championships will include, in terms of snowboarding, parallel slalom, parallel giant, slope style, snowboardcross, halfpipe and big air, while in freestyle ski, moguls, slope style, Ski Cross, half pipe and aerials will take place.

HalfPipe Sierra Nevada

They will be the second absolute world championships organized by Sierra Nevada, since the Alpine World cup in 1996, although the Granada station has also hosted the world junior snowboarding in 2012 and the ski school in 2014.
